Teri & Tom
As many of you know, my mother, Teri, and stepfather, Tom, are coming to Obihiro in July. I’m very excited! I’m looking forward to showing them what my life is like in Japan. I’m also looking forward to introducing them to Joy students and teachers. They will be in Obihiro from July 15th-23rd, so I hope many of you will meet them.
On Thursday, July 22nd, my stepfather is going to give a talk about bees at Joy. The presentation will go from 7-8:15 pm. Tom is a former Florida State bee inspector. He will talk a lot about beekeeping, bee products, and honey. He makes delicious honey, and you might be lucky enough to taste some if you go to his talk!
Here is a website that has an article from a newspaper that features Tom and his work with “Killer Bees,” or Africanized bees:

The next two websites display scientific articles about bees that Tom has written or co-written:

And finally, this is a website for “Bees for Development,” which Tom is a member of:

I hope you can attend my stepfather’s “Talk & Talk.” I think you will learn a lot. Also, don’t forget about our event on June 23rd at 6pm – “Joy Coffeehouse with T.” It will be a good chance for everyone to practice having casual conversations in English. We will have coffee, tea, and snacks for everyone to enjoy. The event is free, and it will be held in Bucky Hall. See you there!
