Last Wednesday Hiroko watched the fireworks at the Obihiro festival from her condo window. The smaller performances were clearly visible but part of the big ones were obscured by clouds. Saki went to the Bon festival with her school friends. They didn't dance but they ate and enjoyed themselves. Yasuko went to Taiwan for four days. She enjoyed sightseeing in Taipei, especially the world's tallest building. Hiroyuki didn't have a summer vacation, but did have a chance to go camping in Hobetsu with members of his congregation. Kanako had a barbecue with friends by the Satsunai river. Taiki worked at an agricultutal cooperative for a month and was happy to make ¥800 an hour. He worked some long, twelve hour days unloading wheat, a good, short term student job.
