Good evening everyone. Thank you for coming to class tonight. It was good seeing Yasushi after a long time. Actually, almost everyone came tonight, so we had a pretty big class. I hope Shunichi is doing okay. I think everyone misses him in class. Tonight I did three one-on-one interviews while the other students had discussions and worked on a worksheet. We also did some pronunciation work in the textbook and a listening about thinking positively (which I think is useful for Kazuei!). Anyway, thanks again for coming and I hope to see you all in class next week for our last class of the semester. Good night and see you soon! Bye!
Good evening everyone! Thank you all for coming to class. Tonight we had two visitors (one left after only half an hour though). We had a kind of busy night. I had one-on-one interviews with three students while the other students did a variety of activities (having discussions and doing a worksheet). After that, we did some some pronunciation practice in our textbooks. We also did a listening and wrote some positive predictions for some situations. It was a good class tonight! And we went a bit over time tonight, so sorry about that. Have a great week and see you all next week! Bye for now!
Good evening everyone! Wow, we had such a big class tonight. I was so surprised to see how many students we had. Nine students came to class in total. If Sayo would have come, then we would have had a full class of ten! Anyway, I had a great time in class. Everyone worked so hard and did a wonderful job. I also did three one-on-one interviews today. I'm sorry we had to rush through the last part of our class, but I really wanted to get that vocabulary section done before next week. Okay, please take care and have a great week. Bye for now!
Hello everyone! Tonight we had a pretty small class as Shunichi, Yasushi and Chisato were all absent from class. There were only five students in total. We started the class with a short open discussion about our past week. We found out that Fumie is a professional sausage maker! (Just kidding). And Rie told us about her interesting trip to Sapporo! Anyway, after that we did a class activity and then worked in the textbook. We found out that Kazuei is the only pessimist in our class, but I'm not so sure if he's really a pessimist. He seems like an optimist to me! Okay, please take care and have a great week. See you all next time... I HOPE! Bye!
Good evening everyone! Thank you all for coming to class. It was great seeing all of you in class tonight. We started with a short open discussion and Satomi told us about her trip to Kyushu. I would like to thank all of you for telling about the island since I've never been there before. Afterwards, we did a group mixer activity and then worked in the textbook. I was so happy to find out that everyone in the class is an optimist! No pessimists!!! It was funny that you even found it difficult to act like a pessimist. Anyway, I hope you all have a great week. Take care and don't work too hard. Bye!
Good evening everyone. Tonight we had a lot to talk about at the beginning of the class and we also have two new members! So now we have a much bigger class than before. It's pretty exciting, isn't it? Welcome to the class, Kazuko and Reiko! Anyway, I wanted to check your homework, so you had to talk with your partner for such a long time (it took me much longer than I had expected). And because of that, we couldn't finish all the work in the textbook that I wanted to do. So I should apologize for that. The last thing we finished was the phrasal verb section on page 26 (Part 4, Vocabulary). I haven't decided what we're going to do next week, but we may just end up moving on to the new unit. Take care and have a good week everyone! Bye for now!
Good evening! Thank you all for coming to our first class after the long summer break. Unfortunately, Shunichi was unable to make it, but he posted a message on last class' blog entry (please check it out). We talked about our summer vacations at first and it was fun telling you all my stories and hearing about all of yours. I think Tokue went on the most unusual holiday! Then we got started on the textbook work. We didn't get much done, but at least we had a good chance to speak a lot at the beginning of the class. I hope you will review what we learned tonight before next week. Please take care and have a great week everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing you all next time! Bye!
Good evening and welcome back to JOY everyone! It was great seeing everyone in class and I was happy that everyone showed up. We even had one visitor, Nonoka, a very smart High School student. Actually, everyone was a little quiet tonight, so that was too bad. But I enjoyed talking with you and joking with you. We talked about our summer vacations at first and then worked in the textbook. It was hard for you to remember what we studied last class, so I would like to remind you to review before every class!!! Anyway, thanks again for coming and take care and have a good week. Bye for now, Joe
PS: Please remind me to check your homework next week!
Good evening everyone! I had a wonderful time in tonight's class. We talked a bit too much at the beginning of the class, but it was fun and interesting. I was so surprised by Sayo's wonderful comic book she made about her trip to Seoul, Vietnam and Cambodia. Thanks for telling us about your trip and thanks so much for the souvenir, both of them!!! We also worked on the new lesson in our textbooks. I had to rush through the grammar a little bit at the end, but I think you could understand well. Please take care and have a great week! See you all next time. Bye for now!
Good evening everyone! Tonight I was surprised to see such a big class. Not only did Chisato join our class, but we also had two visitors from other classes, Reiko and Rie. It was great seeing so many students in class and I had a good time. At first we talked about the mama-chari race, the Tokachi River rafting, and hiking. Then we started the new lesson, Unit 3A. We had a really interesting conversation about airports to introduce the unit and then the first exercise was a reading about three different people (they were interviews taken from the JFK Airport arrivals area). Then we studied the future tense (with "going to" and with the present continuous). We also did one exercise in the grammar section at the back of the book. Tonight was our last class before the summer break, so please enjoy your summer and I'll see you all in three weeks! Don't forget to do your summer vacation homework. Take care everyone!
Good evening! Tonight we started with a pretty small class. I was a little worried that we wouldn't have any students other than the three that were on time, but Minori eventually came and then Kaori came to class. In the end we had a class of five. Sachi told us about an interesting program she watched on TV and then we got started with the lesson. We finished off the last listening from last week and then we started unit 3A. The first exercise was a reading about three different people (they were interviews taken from the JFK Airport arrivals area). Then we studied the future tense (with "going to" and with the present continuous). We also did one exercise. Next time we will continue on with this unit. The next two weeks there will be no classes, so please enjoy your summer break. I look forward to seeing you next time. And please don't forget to do your homework! Bye for now!
Good evening everyone! Tonight we had an all ladies class with a total of five students. It was good seeing Sayo in the class and even Yuki was almost on time. What great students you all are! Of course, I had a good time in class, but I felt like I was outnumbered. Yes, all of you picked on me during one of the activities and I had to stop the activity and do something else... Hahaha, just kidding! Anyway, after the activity we worked in the textbook. First we a verb phrase matching exercise and then we retold the story from page 22 using the pictures on page 23 for help. And finally we did a listening exercise. Well, tonight was our last class before the summer holiday, so have a great holiday and don't forget to do your summer vacation homework! Take care!
Good evening everyone. Tonight we had six students in class, including a visitor, Chisato from Mr. Urashima's writing class. Yasushi was absent tonight, so I hope he's doing okay. At first we asked Tokue about her farm because of the bad weather we've been having. I actually think about Tokue's farm every time it rains heavily. I'm worried about her crops! After that, we checked the homework from last week and then working in the textbook. We learned some verb phrases and then we did retold the story about Hannah and Jamie that we read last week. After that we listened to the rest of the story. It was a sad story. Anyway, please take care and have a good week. Take care!
Good evening everyone. Well, tonight we had a class of only five students. Unfortunately, Minori was absent from class again. I hope she can make up her class sometime soon. We started the class with pair discussions, then we checked the homework as a class. After that we studied some verb phrases and wrote some questions using the verb phrases. Sorry I didn't really explain this activity to you very well. But in the end, I think the activity went fairly well. We also started the listening, but didn't manage to get it finished. Again, this was my fault since we spent too much time on the previous activity. Sorry! Anyway, I hope you had a good time in class despite everything. Have a good week and I'll see you all next time. Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, even though Yumiko was unable to make it to class tonight, we ended up with a class of seven students because we had two visitors to our class, Reiko and Kazuko from Trish's Step 3K class. It was a fun class! I really enjoyed talking with all of you and making some jokes. And it was great seeing Yuki on time for class for a change. I was shocked (and so was Sayo when she came into the classroom). We started the class with a reading and then studied the use of so, because, but and although. I was so surprised at how well you all did with this section. However, I'd like to do the extra study handout for homework. Take care and have a great week everyone! Bye for now!
Hello! How are you all doing tonight? We had a full class tonight, so it was great seeing all of you. We even had a visitor to our class, Mamiko from Trish's class who visits us quite a bit. It was fun having Mamiko in our class tonight because we could talk to her about her trip to Sydney and Korea. She also gave us a souvenir from her trip, which was very nice of her. Thank you Mamiko! We started today's class with a reading from Lesson 2D. It was a long reading but you all did a very good job with it. After that, we studied the new grammar point (using so, because, but and although). Yasushi seemed a bit lost, but I think he can do it if he tires hard! We didn't have the chance to practice this a bit more, so we'll do that next week. Don't forget to do the handout I gave you for homework. It will definitely help with next week when practice more. Take care and have a great week. Talk to you all again soon!
Good evening. It was great seeing everyone in class tonight! Everyone came and we even had a visitor, Takayuki from Trish's Step 3D class. At first, Sachi told us her good news. She passed the Chinese proficiency exam, so CONGRATULATIONS! She also told me a funny Japanese expression. After that discussion, we had pair discussions and then started the reading in lesson 2D. It was a long reading and you all did a very good job with it. Thank you for your efforts! After that, we studied the new grammar point (using so, because, but and although). We didn't have the chance to practice this a bit more, so we'll do that next week. Don't forget to do the handout I gave you for homework. It will definitely help with next week when practice more. Thanks for coming! Have a great week everyone and don't work too hard. Bye for now!
Good evening! Thank you all for coming tonight. We had a pretty large class compared to usual so I was kind of surprised. And both Sayo and Yumiko came to class tonight, which made me very happy. And to top all of that off, we also had a visitor, Kazuko from Trish's morning Step 3 class. It was great having so many people in the class for a change. However, Julia wasn't herself. She seemed a bit tired and maybe even sick. I hope she's back to normal next time. Tonight we talked about questions with and without an auxiliary. Then we talked about music and about The Beatles and listened to a John Lennon song, Imagine. It was fun! Please do the reading on page 21 for homework (Part 5, a and b). Thank you all for coming. Please take care and have a good week. Bye!
Hello! Tonight we had a good class in my opinion. We talked a lot and had some good laughs. And it was so great seeing Shunichi after a long absence. Despite having worked so hard, he looked good and seemed to be in a good mood. I hope he can make it to class every week from now on. We started the new lesson on music and discussed the topic in pairs. Then we did a quiz on music and I was so surprised that Yasushi got 11 out of 12 on the quiz (the best score of all my Step 3 classes, and even better than me!). We didn't have enough time to talk about the grammar, so we'll start with that next week. Thanks again for coming to class. Please have a great week and I'll see you all next time. Bye for now!
Good evening! Tonight Sachi was absent from class (which is unusual), but Kunio came to our class for a make-up lesson so we ended up with a full class of six students anyway. I think it was a fun class and everyone seemed pretty relaxed. However, Kaori looked pretty tired! Don't work too hard Karoi, okay? Tonight we started the new lesson on music. We had an interesting discussion about music and then did a quiz. Urou did very well on the quiz and I was impressed with his knowledge about music. After that we looked at the grammar structure of questions with and without auxiliaries. Next week we will look at this in more detail. Have a great week everyone and see you all next time. Bye!
Hello! Thank you for coming tonight. How are you all doing? We had a small class of four students, so it was a nice and cozy class for me. It was also good seeing Yumiko after a long absence. We talked mainly about Julia's computer class and my high school years. Everyone was so shocked that I got the highest score in some of my classes! After that we reviewed the use of the simple past and the past continuous and then did a reading and listening about a famous photograph of two lovers in Paris. At the end of class, we quickly looked at the use of the prepositions at, on and in. We will have a test next week, so please make sure you study this grammar point! Okay, take care and have a great week everyone. Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, it was good seeing all of you tonight. Thanks for coming. Unfortunately, Shunichi was unable to make it even after he said he would come tonight. That was too bad. But hopefully we can see him next week. We started with pair discussions tonight and then we worked on lesson 2B. We did a reading and a listening about a famous photograph. Yes, the Bastille used to be a prison. It is now a large park. But I'm still not sure where exactly the photo was taken. We also worked on using prepositions (always a difficult topic). We may have a test next week, so be sure to review and study the work we did in class. Have a great week everyone and see you all next time, and hopefully Shunichi. Bye for now!
Good evening! How are you doing tonight? I hope you're all doing well. It was good to see you all. Unfortunately, Minori was absent, but everyone else came as usual. We had a quick open discussion and Yoshiyuki told us about his health problems. I hope you get well soon, Yoshiyuki. Also Sachi told us about her Chinese test in Sapporo. Please let us know your final result, Sachi! After that we worked on lesson 2B. We did a reading and a listening about a famous photograph. We also worked on using prepositions (always a difficult topic). We may have a test next week, so be sure to review and study the work we did in class. Take care and have a good week everyone. Bye for now!
Good evening. How are you all doing? Tonight we had a nice class of five students. Sayo was absent, but we had a visitor to our class, Natsuki from Trish's class. It was nice having Natsuki in our class, but I wonder if she had a good time. I was a little crazy, as usual. Anyway, tonight we studied a very difficult grammar point which is the difference between the simple past and the past continuous. It was difficult for you, but don't worry, we will practice this some more next time. And to be honest, I think you all did a wonderful job! Okay, please take care and have a good week. See you all soon!
Good evening everyone. Tonight both Shunichi (again) and Fumie were absent, so our class seemed much smaller than usual. I guess now that Yuko and Shoko have left, the class is always going to seem small. However, Mamiko joined us tonight and it was fun having her in our class, as usual. We started the class with pair discussions. After speaking to your partner you had to report something interesting you learned. My partner was Yasushi and we had a good conversation. Then we worked on the simple past and past continuous. It was a little challenging, but I thought you all did a good job. So keep up the good work! Make sure you review before next week and that will help you in our next class. Take care and have a great week everyone. Bye for now!
PS: Happy Birthday Shunichi! It was your birthday on the 16th, right?
Good evening everyone! Tonight we had a full class, plus a substitution student from Trish's 3D class, Takayuki (who also happens to be the husband and father of two of my students). I was glad to see everyone in class, so thank you for coming. And Satomi gave us a souvenir from her trip to Bali with her husband. Thank you so much Satomi, that was very kind of you. We started the class with pair interviews and then you had to report one interesting thing you learned about your partner to the rest of the class. Then we worked on the new grammar point of today. You learned how and when to use the past continuous verses the simple past. We did some exercises on that topic. You all did a good job on these activities. We will continue on with this topic next week. Have a great week everyone and see you all next time. Bye!
Good evening Kunio, Sayo and Yuki! Yes, we only had three students in class tonight, but I had a great time! We talked about a lot of interesting things and also had a fun class. At first we had a group discussion about the weather, golf and our jobs. Then we did a review activity (a crossword) using last week's grammar structure (relative clauses). Kunio did a great job at answering the questions and Sayo really enjoyed the activity. Also, Yuki gave a lot of really difficult hints which made the game both fun and very difficult. After the activity, we started on the new Unit about vacations. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to do everything that I planned, but at least we got the vocabulary section finished. Anyway, please have a great week and I'll see you in class next time. Bye for now!
Good evening! How are you doing tonight? It seems like now that Yasushi has retuned to class, Shunichi has disappeared from class. I hope to see Shunichi again soon! And tonight Tokue was also absent. However, we had two visitors, Julia (from my Step 3C class) and Yoko (from Trish's Step 3D class). So in total we had six, almost a full class. I also leaned something interesting about Kazuei tonight. He told us that he took part in a marathon last Sunday! That's just great! Then we worked in the textbook. At first we did a review activity to practice relative clauses. Then we started the new unit and talked about vacations and learned some useful natural English expressions about vacations and weather. There wasn't enough time to do the LONG reading, so we practiced past simple irregular verbs instead. Good job everyone! Take care and have a good week. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. Bye for now!
Good evening. How are you all doing? I hope you're doing well despite the HOT weather we've been having! And today was a pretty strange day in terms of weather because it kept changing all day. We had a pretty small class today since Satomi was absent, but we still had five students in total. We did a review activity at first to practice relative clauses. Then we started the new unit and talked about vacations and learned some useful natural English expressions about vacations and weather. Finally, we did a reading and answered some comprehension questions. It was a rather long reading, but I think you did a pretty good job. And then we talked about our experiences about things going differently from what we expected. It was very interesting! Thanks for your participation and hard work. Take care and have a great week. Bye for now!
Good evening everyone. Well, we had a pretty interesting class tonight as we had two visitors! Both Kaori (from my Step 3E) and Tokue (from my Step 3F) joined us and that helped to make an interesting class for all of us! It's good to have some new faces from time to time. We talked about the heat at first and then worked in the textbook. At first we checked our answers to the homework and then we studied relative clauses and did some exercises for practice. Then we did the Vocabulary section, part b on page 11, instead of the listening because half of the students had already done the listening. Anyway, thank you all for coming to class and I'm looking forward to seeing you next week! I hope you're enjoying the heat!!! (because I'm certainly NOT). Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, tonight we had quite an interesting group of students because we had two visitors in our class, Minori and Satomi from my Step 3E class, and also Yasushi finally came back to our class! It was great seeing Yasushi after such a long time. Unfortunately, Shunichi wasn't able to come to class tonight (Do you remember your New Year's resolution?). Tonight we listened to an old song from the sixties and filled in the missing words. Then we sang the song! You are all very good singers and that was a lot of fun. After that, we worked on the new grammar. We did some practice exercises and then did another listening. It was a pretty fun class today and I think you all did a great job. Thanks for coming! Please have a great week and I'll see you all next time. Bye for now!
Good evening everyone! Thank you for coming to class, it was good to see all of you. Actually, Minori was absent, but all other students were present including Kunio form my other Step 3 class. Today we talked with Kaori about her trip to Hawaii. That was an interesting conversation, so thank you very much Kaori for telling us all about your holiday. Thanks for the souvenir, too! Very delicious! Anyway, after that we worked on some things in our textbooks. We studied the new grammar and did some exercises for practice. After that we did a listening. I hope to move on to the new Unit from next week, but we might do some review work first. Have a great week everyone and I'll see you all next time. Bye for now!
Hello! How are you all doing tonight? Well, tonight we had a few surprises. First of all, Sayo came to class tonight (that's three times in a row!). Then Yuki came in only two minutes late! After that, Yumiko also showed up. So that made a class of five all together, including Yoko and Kazuei (a visitor from my Step 3F class). I had a great time in class so thank you all for coming and for participating actively. I hope to see all of you again next week. At first, after pair discussions, we did a listening with a song. I was so happy to hear that all of you enjoyed the song and the Step 3C Karaoke! We also worked on the textbook and did some work defining some words. Please do section (e) at the bottom of page 10 for homework. Take care and have a great week everyone! Bye for now!
Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I had a good time in class, so thank you all for coming. Actually, today is Shoko's birthday! She said she would come to class, but she was absent (too bad since I brought some chocolates for her and for everyone). Mamiko also joined our class tonight, so it was nice seeing her again. And Fumie was very tired tonight, so I hope she's doing okay now. At first, we worked on a review handout on the simple present and present continuous. You all did a great job! Then we played HANGMAN on the board. For the rest of class, we worked on page 10. Please finish part (e) for homework and we'll check our answers and continue with this lesson next week. Have a great week everyone and I'll see you all next time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Shoko!
Good evening everyone! Thank you all for coming to class tonight, especially Satomi since she just had her wedding over the weekend and must have been so tired! Unfortunately, Minori was unable to come to class so we ended up with a class of only 4 (Kaori is on vacation!). At first we did a listening exercise using the song, "Ain't got no - I got life." I thought it was interesting, but it seems most of you didn't really enjoy the song that much. Then we played HANGMAN on the board. For the rest of class, we worked on page 10. Please finish part (e) for homework and we'll check our answers and continue with this lesson next week. Have a great week everyone and see you all next time. Take care!
Good evening. Of course, it was great seeing all of you in class tonight. Unfortunately, there were two absent students, Yumiko and Yoko. However, we ended up with a class of five students because Sachi came to our class to do a make-up lesson, so it was great to have a new student in the class. And Sayo came two weeks in a row... A NEW RECORD! Anyway, we had a nice chat at first and then started working in the textbook. We finished the "At the Moulin Rouge" lesson and we will start the new lesson next week. I'm looking forward to seeing you all next time in class, although Julia will be absent. I wonder how many people will make it to class next week??? Have a great week and see you all soon. Bye for now!
Good evening everyone! Thank you all for coming to class tonight. It was a shame that Yasushi was unable to come to class again tonight and now I'm starting to get worried about him. I hope he's doing alright! Well, tonight after our pair discussions, we worked on the new grammar (present continuous vs. simple present) and then we did an exercise. After that we finished the activity on the painting "At the Moulin Rouge." It turns out that Kazuei was correct about who the painter was! And Fumie said that she wasn't really interested in art but that she found the activity interesting. So I was so happy that she could become interested in something different through English class. Anyway, we will start the new lesson next week! So until then, please take care and enjoy the week. Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, I was so happy to see everyone in class tonight. Kaori and Minori came in a little late, but I was so happy that both of you could make it! I know you all so busy, especially Satomi with her wedding plans and Kaori with her trip coming up tomorrow, so I can't thank you enough! Just great to see everyone and have a full class! Tonight we worked more on the present continuous vs. the simple present. You all did a great job in class! And then we finished the lesson we started last week. The pair discussions at the end of the class not only went well, but they were pretty interesting as well. Please take care and have a great week everyone. I'm looking forward to hearing from Satomi and Kaori sometime in the future! Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, tonight I had a very good time so thank you ALL for coming. Yes, that's right! We had a full class tonight, including Sayo! (Oops! We actually didn't have a full class because I forgot that Yumiko has also joined our class and was absent. Sorry!) We started our class with an open class discussion and then we had pair discussions. My partner was Yuki and we had a good conversation with each other. After that we did some exercises and then worked in the textbook. If you want to find out who the artist in the painting is, you'll have to come to class next week. I hope to see you all there! And I told a lot of jokes tonight. What did you think? Were they funny or just stupid? I hope you enjoyed my silly jokes! Have a great week and talk to you soon. Bye for now!
Good evening! What a surprise I had when I came into class tonight! There were three visitors all together. Actually, I was happy to see such a variety of people in class tonight and it was fun to have some different faces. Unfortunately, Fumie and Yasushi were unable to make it to class tonight (If they had, we would have had a class of ten). Anyway, we had our usual pair discussions at the beginning of class and then we worked hard from then on! Good job everyone! I hope you enjoyed the class and were able to speak a lot and use a lot of new vocabulary and the new grammar structure (the present continuous). Next week we will continue on with this unit. Please make sure you review and study before class every week! Have a great week and please take care. Bye for now!
Good evening! Wow, we had a pretty small class tonight with only four students! Sachi, Minori and Yoshiyuki were absent, but Tokue from my Step 3F class joined us. It was a nice, small class! And I noticed that the atmosphere of the class was a little different from usual (but not in a bad way). Of course, I joked around with Urou quite a bit in class tonight, so that was pretty funny to me. And Tokue did a wonderful job in our class, so thank you all for welcoming her to our class! I have to apologize to you for doing a bit too much in class tonight. I thought we could manage to get Lesson 1C finished, but it turned out to be impossible! Next week we will work a bit slower to try to make sense of the grammar a bit more. Anyway, please take care and have a great week. See you in class next time!
Good evening and welcome back to JOY after such a long break! Tonight we almost had a full class, but once again Sayo was absent! Too bad! Maybe we can have a full class next week??? Anyway, it was great seeing you and talking with you after such a long three week break from classes. Thank you for listening to my stories about Canada! Actually, it had been such a long time that I had forgotten exactly where we ended last class. And luckily Julia reminded me about the Classroom English quiz, so I gave that to you at the end of class instead of the beginning. We also worked hard in the textbook tonight. We reviewed the reading from last week, studied the new grammar and also did a listening! Anyway, I hope you all have a great week and I'll see you in class next time. I hope to see Sayo, too! Bye for now!
Good evening! Well, it was great seeing all of you after the holidays. We actually had a pretty big class tonight even though Tokue, Yasushi and Yuko were unable to make it. We had a new student in our class (Welcome Kazuei) and we also had a visitor from my Step 3E class (Urou). At first we talked about our Golden Week holidays, including my trip back to Canada, and then we had a quick quiz on Classroom English. Hmmm, I don't think any of your studied very much over the holidays. Anyway, after that we continued on with the reading we started last class. It was rather difficult for you to remember the reading from last week. You know, you should always do some review of the last lesson before you come to class! Then we quickly studied the simple present and frequency adverbs and expressions of frequency and did a communication activity. We will finish the lesson next week. Take care and have a good week/weekend everyone!
PS: I have some bad news. It seems that Yuko will no longer be able to come to our class. But I hope to see her again soon!
Good evening! Well, we had a pretty small class tonight compared to our usual class size, but it was great seeing those of you who could make it and talking with all of you after the Golden Week holiday. Actually, I went to Canada over the holidays, so it was fun telling you all about my trip and stuff, too! At first we had a quick quiz on Classroom English and then we continued on with the reading we started last class. I was amazed at how much you could remember from the reading! We quickly studied the simple present and frequency adverbs and expressions of frequency and then did a communication activity and a listening exercise. I think we will move on to lesson 1C next week. So until our next class, please take care and have a great week! Bye for now!
Good evening! Wow, we only had four students in class tonight. That was too bad since it was our last class before the Golden Week holidays. But I had a great time with the four of you and I was glad to have such a small class. We started the class with pair discussions and then we learned some useful classroom English expressions. After that we worked in the textbook and studied some vocabulary about family and did an interesting reading on page 6. Next week is Golden Week, so please take care and have a good holiday! And don't forget to study hard over the holidays. Take care everyone!
Good evening! Thank you all for coming to class tonight. Actually, we had a full class, so I was happy about that. Today is Sachi's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sachi! I hope you have a great night no matter what you do! After our pair discussions, we learned some useful new classroom English expressions. Please study the handout and use these expressions as much as possible in class. Then we worked in the textbook and did some work on family relationship words, personality adjectives and reading comprehension. Good job everyone! Anyway, next week there is no class because it's Golden Week. So have a good time over the break and don't forget to study hard! Bye for now!
Good evening! Tonight we had a class of four students. It was a nice, relaxing class for me. Thank you for coming! Actually, everyone except Yuki was dead tired, including me! But I think you all enjoyed the class anyway. We learned some new classroom expressions and then worked in the textbook. The reading on page 6 was pretty interesting to me, so I hope you enjoyed it, too! There is no class next week, so please enjoy the Golden Week break. And make sure you study the classroom English expressions because you never know if I'll give you a quiz next time or not!!! Take care and see you all again in May!
Good evening! Well, I was kind of surprised that Fumie didn't come to class since she wrote me a few days ago and asked me to bring some photos of my family to class tonight. I remembered to bring them, but then she never came! And there were a couple of other absent students as well. So we ended up with only five students in class. However, I had a wonderful time as usual and I felt like we talked a lot and studied a lot, too! We continued working on Lesson 1A in the textbook and I gave you the "You Say" and "You Read" sections of page 144 for homework. I hope that everyone completes these sections before next week, including all the absent students. Have a great week everyone and see you all next time! Bye for now!
PS: Yuko, your birthday is on May 9th, right? And Shoko's birthday is May 28th, right? Wow, two birthdays in May!!!
Good evening everyone! Thank you for coming to class tonight. Actually, Minori was absent tonight, but Kunio joined us. I had a great time in class! At first I showed you some photos of my family in Canada and then we had pair discussions and talked about one topic out of three topics I gave to you. I think most of you chatted about your last weekend. Then we did some review of the word order in questions. Did you study this over the last week? I don't think so! We also did a kind of race game. I cheated a little, but in the end it didn't really matter because there were some mistakes in your answers. Anyway, we also worked in the textbook and leaned some useful classroom English expressions. Take care and have a good week everyone! Bye for now!
PS: Even though Minori didn't make it to class, she brought a souvenir to JOY. So thank you for that Minori!
Well, it was kind of funny that there were only two students in class when the class began. I think Yoko was a bit shocked to see such a small class (only her and Julia). But don't worry Yoko, please relax and enjoy yourself! Eventually, both Yumiko (new to our class) and Yuki came and we ended up with a class of four students. I had such a wonderful time in class. We started with an open discussion and we talked about our last weekend. Then I showed you some photos of my family. After that we worked on the textbook. We reviewed the word order of questions and then I found out that none of you studied last week's grammar structure. Oh my! Anyway, please take care and have a great week. I will see you all next time! Bye for now!
Good evening! Tonight we had a group of seven students in class including Minori, a visitor from my Step 3E class. We started with a group discussion about our past week and other news, but most of you didn't really have any special news to talk about. Then we had an interesting conversation about names in japanese. I was surprised to find out that both Yasushi and Minori only have one kanji character for both their first and last names. After that discussions, we interviewed our partners using the questions in the book. That was pretty interesting, too. Actually, it was funny that Fumie and I ended up being partners for this activity! After that we learned the basic word order of questions in English. Please finish the Grammar Bank 1A (part b) section for homework (on page 127). Take care and have a great week! Bye for now!
Good evening! It was great seeing you all in class tonight. However, we did have a couple of absent students, Yoko and Minori. In any case, I had a great time in class with you, so thank you all for coming And thank you Yuki for joining us tonight, too! At first we had an open group discussion about our past week and other special news. Tonight we found out that Kaori is going to Hawaii next month, Yoshiyuki is now a new grandfather, and Satomi is getting married next month! Very interesting news! We then worked on the textbook and had an interesting conversation about names. After that we interviewed our partners using the questions in the book. That was pretty interesting, too. After that we learned the basic word order of questions in English. Great job everyone! Have a great week and see you all next time! Bye for now!
Good evening! Tonight we had Yoko join us in our class (from my Wednesday Step 3 class) and also Kunio and Sayo come for the first time. And of course, Julia was present as usual! Thank you all for coming. Tonight you were all pretty chatty and so we ended up chatting a lot more than I had expected. But that's okay! It was fun and interesting to hear what you had to say. Good luck to both Julia and Sayo with school and work, and Happy Birthday to Yoko! And to Kunio, I hope you can have a relaxing week, don't work too hard! We worked a bit on the textbook tonight and you all did a wonderful job! Thank you very much for trying hard and I'll see you all next week. Take care!
PS: Julia, I'm sorry but I didn't get your e-mail message. What happened???
Good evening everyone! Well, we had a nice, big class of eight students in total and I was impressed that everyone made it to the first class. It was also nice seeing Shunichi after a long time! I'm really looking forward to this class and I hope you will try hard and have a good time in this NEW step 3 class! Good luck to all of you this semester. Remember, you don't always have to sit in the same place! Please try to move around more. Also, if you have any questions, concerns or comments, please let me know. I'm waiting to hear from you! Have a great week and see you next time!
Good evening! Wow, not only did we have a full class tonight (with a total of seven students), but we also had a visitor, Kunio from my Step 3C class. So we had eight students in total tonight. It was wonderful seeing everyone and meeting the new students in our class. I hope we can all enjoy studying English together this semester! After telling you a bunch of information, we did self-introductions and then did an activity with the textbook! If you have any questions, please write to me anytime!
