Can you imagine?

When I went to the drug store (ツルハドラッグ) the other day, I found this product that I just had to try! It was a しそ (called Perilla or Beefsteak plant in English) flavored soft drink by PEPSI. I mean, can you imagine? It was a kind of shock for me to find such a product on the shelf and I even wondered how popular such a drink could possibly be. Anyway, of course I bought one to try.
On the bottle, the label claims that the drink has a "Japanese Refreshing Flavor". I finally tired the drink when it was a nice warm day. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it certainly was "refreshing" even though it had a very strong shiso taste. Don't get me wrong though, I do love shiso!
The drink was OK, but I don't think I'll buy another one. However, I hope you will try one if you find it at the drug store!

Hey Shunsuke,
Thanks so much for your message! It was great hearing from you. This is your first time to comment on my blog, isn't it? I'm happy you commented!
I remember Pepsi-Cucumber from a couple of years ago, but I never tired it. I kind of wish I had tried it when it came out. What a shame I missed the chance. It's fun to try new, unusual products, isn't it?
I've never tried the shochu from Shiranuka that you mentioned. If I ever get the chance, I will surely try! Thanks for the recommendation. I checked out the website you posted and it was pretty interesting. Thanks!
Anyway, please take care and thanks again for writing!

I found a curious Pepsi 2 years ago at SeicoMart.
It was "Pepsi-Cucumber". きゅうり?! Was it cora? I bought and tried.
It was emerald green color and it was not cucumber fravor but cool mint I felt. Umm...I didn't buy another one.
I didn't find it last year. I thought "Curious Pepsi was stopped."
Joe's article was surprised. I'll search "Pepsi-Shiso". Thanks!

"Tantakatan"(鍛高譚) is a popular shochu in Shiranuka-town (next Kushiro).

I like it. Can you try?

Thank you Orin, Yumiko and Yuki for your comments to my entry. I was happy to receive so many messages.
I think it's fun to try new things when you have the chance. It may sound a little strange at first, but you never know until you actually try it! Although, I have to agree with you, Yuki, I definitely prefer regular Pepsi!
And just like Orin, I couldn't stop drinking the Pepsi. At first, I was kind of stunned at the taste, but it gradually grew on me and I ended up drinking the entire bottle!
No, next time I will not buy Shiso Pepsi, but it was fun trying it the one time!

No, thank you, Joe. I won't drink shiso Pepsi. The color of the drink looks good, but I prefer normal Pepsi to unbelievable-flavored Pepsi. Anyway you and Orin are brave men.

I have laughed a little when I read the comment of Joe and Orin. To have bought this was good at business commercial. I also bought this though I don't think the taste of Japanese refreshing flavor. I used this to cook but I won't use it again. But the color is beautiful, isn't it?

I tried one of these drinks last month. The main reason I bought it was because it said "Japanese refreshing flavor" on the label. I was very curious! My first impression of the drink was that it tasted like laundry detergent, even though I've never tasted laundry detergent. However, the taste grew on me just a little and the sugary sweetness of the drink made it very addictive. After the first sip, I thought there was no way that I would even drink half of it. I was wrong. I finished the whole thing, but it took me two days to do it!
I agree with you, Joe, I don't think I will buy another one.
