Snowed in

The winds were pretty bad out here last night and between the snowdrifts and the snow berm from the snowplow we couldn't get out of the driveway this morning. Luckily, we had no plans to go anywhere, so I could take my time clearing away the snow.
It turned out to be a beautiful day and I spent most of the day working on the syllabus for one of the classes I will be teaching at Chikudai starting in April. While I did that Noriko made cinnamon rolls and bread. The cinnamon rolls were great. My heart hopes she will get back in to the habit of making them, but my waistline doesn't. I guess I can justify eating that extra one because of the exercise I got shoveling snow.

My back feels okay, but it did take me longer than I thought it would to blow the snow out the driveway because I had some mechanical trouble with my snowblower. I also got Noriko's car stuck in the driveway. I needed to move her car out of the garage so that I could get the snowblower out, but there was a big drift in front of the door. Instead of shoveling that place by hand I thought I could just power through it with the car. Well, I did get the car out, but then I couldn't get it back in. I had to dig around the tires and rock it back and forth before I couldn't get it back in the garage.
Noriko bought the doll at Nitori, I think, but snow is what blew in around the entryway. I didn't put it there.
The storm Saturday night was also terrible in Nakastsunai. It can be exciting to drive to Obihiro after such weather, breaking many snowdrifts in the strong wind. But not for me.
Masa is annoyed by lower back ache from snow clearing. Are you OK, David?
I think that the waist doesn't become thin by snow clearing. ( I think that you don't need to think so!) But it will become the reason that you can eat delicious meal a lot.
Even so, the doll by the window is cute, isn't it!
